The Deputy Airport Director, Operations, is charged with the day-to-day oversight of Airport activities. Airport Operations Airside Operations and Landside Operations. Airport Operations conducts Airport inspections, addresses the needs of Airport tenants, airlines and travelers, oversees administration of general aviation aircraft, manages employee identification and badging process, manages parking facilities, and monitors ground transportation providers. As JWA’s Security Coordinator, he also oversees JWA Police Services and Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting services, and is primary point of contact to the Transportation Security Administration.

Mr. Steele has over 24 years of military and civilian aviation industry experience. He has served at JWA since December 2016 as the Emergency Preparedness and Security Manager. Prior to this role, he held several positions at three other medium and large hub airports, including Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Burbank-Bob Hope Airport (BUR), and Tampa International Airport (TPA). His military career included over eight years in the United States Marine Corps as an avionics technician on various fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft platforms, a quality assurance inspector, squadron safety and training manager, and a helicopter aerial observer/door gunner. He holds an undergraduate degree from Southern Illinois University in Aviation Management and a master’s from Delta State University in Commercial Aviation.
