John Wayne Airport Posts August 2023 Statistics

(SANTA ANA, CA) – Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport increased in August 2023 as compared to August 2022. In August 2023, the Airport served 1,038,889 passengers, an increase of 0.8% when compared with the August 2022 passenger traffic count of 1,030,933.

Commercial aircraft operations in August 2023 of 8,361 decreased 0.1% and commuter aircraft operations of 350 decreased 21.9% when comparing with August 2022 levels.

Total aircraft operations decreased in August 2023 as compared with the same month in 2022. In August 2023, there were 25,978 total aircraft operations (takeoffs and landings) a 10.0% decrease compared to 28,857 total aircraft operations in August 2022.

General aviation activity of 17,257 accounted for 66.4% of the total aircraft operations during August 2023 and decreased 13.8% compared with August 2022.

The top three airlines in August 2023 based on passenger count were Southwest Airlines (305,251), American Airlines (169,041) and United Airlines (168,550).
