John Wayne Airport Posts February 2021 Statistics

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport decreased in February 2021 as compared with February 2020. In February 2021, the Airport served 227,402 passengers, a decrease of 70.3% when compared with the February 2020 passenger traffic count of 764,506. 

Commercial aircraft operations decreased 41.6% and commuter aircraft operations decreased 53.0% when compared with February 2020 levels.

Total aircraft operations increased in February 2021 as compared with the same month in 2020. In February 2021, there were 21,873 total aircraft operations (take-offs and landings), a 12.7% increase compared to 19,412 total aircraft operations in February 2020.

General aviation activity, which accounted for 81.9% of the total aircraft operations during February 2021, increased 43.2% when compared with February 2020.

The top three airlines in February 2021 based on passenger count were Southwest Airlines (94,036), American Airlines (36,489) and Alaska Airlines (28,265).
