John Wayne Airport Posts March 2020 Statistics

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport decreased in March 2020 as compared with March 2019. In March 2020, the Airport served 337,981 passengers, a decrease of 63.4% when compared with the March 2019 passenger traffic count of 923,403. 

Commercial aircraft operations decreased 27.7% and commuter aircraft operations increased 25.0% when compared with March 2019 levels.

Total aircraft operations decreased in March 2020 as compared with the same month in 2019. In March 2020, there were 17,020 total aircraft operations (take-offs and landings), a 34.8% decrease compared to 26,107 total aircraft operations in March 2019.

General aviation activity, which accounted for 64.0% of the total aircraft operations during March 2020, decreased 39.1% when compared with March 2019.

The top three airlines in March 2020 based on passenger count were Southwest Airlines (111,365), American Airlines (61,774) and United Airlines (53,102).
