John Wayne Airport Posts May 2019 Statistics

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport increased in May 2019 as compared with May 2018. In May 2019, the Airport served 942,872 passengers, an increase of 3.0% when compared with the May 2018 passenger traffic count of 915,833. 

Commercial aircraft operations increased 0.6% and commuter aircraft operations increased 762.1% when compared with May 2018 levels.

Total aircraft operations decreased in May 2019 as compared with the same month in 2018. In May 2019, there were 26,509 total aircraft operations (take-offs and landings), a 0.2% decrease compared to 26,572 total aircraft operations in May 2018.

General aviation activity, which accounted for 67.9% of the total aircraft operations during May 2019, decreased 3.1% when compared with May 2018.

The top three airlines in May 2019 based on passenger count were Southwest Airlines (324,672), American Airlines (153,571) and United Airlines (146,594).
