John Wayne Airport Posts August 2018 Statistics

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport increased in August 2018 as compared with August 2017. In August 2018, the Airport served 991,112 passengers, an increase of 6.1% when compared with the August 2017 passenger traffic count of 934,515. 

Commercial aircraft operations increased 3.8% and commuter aircraft operations increased 419.6% when compared with August 2017 levels.

Total aircraft operations increased in August 2018 as compared with the same month in 2017. In August 2018, there were 30,621 total aircraft operations (take-offs and landings), a 16.7% increase compared to 26,250 total aircraft operations in August 2017.

General aviation activity, which accounted for 72.1% of the total aircraft operations during August 2018, increased 21.3% when compared with August 2017.

The top three airlines in August 2018 based on passenger count were Southwest Airlines (354,854), American Airlines (158,157) and United Airlines (157,680).
