John Wayne Airport Posts May 2018 Statistics

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport increased in May 2018 as compared with May 2017. In May 2018, the Airport served 915,833 passengers, an increase of 4.2% when compared with the May 2017 passenger traffic count of 878,901. 

Commercial aircraft operations increased 2.3% and commuter aircraft operations decreased 12.1% when compared with May 2017 levels.

Total aircraft operations decreased in May 2018 as compared with the same month in 2017. In May 2018, there were 26,572 total aircraft operations (take-offs and landings), a 4.3% decrease compared to 27,769 total aircraft operations in May 2017.

General aviation activity, which accounted for 69.9% of the total aircraft operations during May 2018, decreased 7.0% when compared with May 2017.

The top three airlines in May 2018 based on passenger count were Southwest Airlines (331,910), American Airlines (149,666) and United Airlines (143,377).
