John Wayne Airport Posts March 2017 Statistics

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport decreased in March 2017 as compared with March 2016.  In March 2017, the Airport served 856,025 passengers, a decrease of 2.5% when compared with the March 2016 passenger traffic count of 877,553. 

Commercial aircraft operations decreased 1.6% and commuter aircraft operations decreased 49.2% when compared with March 2016 levels.

Total aircraft operations increased in March 2017 as compared with the same month in 2016.  In March 2017, there were 25,598 total aircraft operations (take-offs and landings), a 4.8% increase compared to 24,421 total aircraft operations in March 2016.

General aviation activity, which accounted for 70.8% of the total aircraft operations during March 2017, increased 8.1% when compared with March 2016.

The top three airlines in March 2017 based on passenger count were Southwest Airlines (351,120), American Airlines (149,193) and United Airlines (127,829).
