John Wayne Airport Posts January 2017 Statistics

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport increased in January 2017 as compared with January 2016. In January 2017, the Airport served 793,774 passengers, an increase of 1.2% when compared with the January 2016 passenger traffic count of 784,248.

In January 2017, commercial aircraft operations increased 1.5% and commuter aircraft operations decreased 55.7% when compared with January 2016 levels.

Total aircraft operations decreased in January 2017 as compared with the same month in 2016. In January 2017, there were 20,116 total aircraft operations (take-offs and landings), a 5.1% decrease compared to 21,197 total aircraft operations in January 2016.

General aviation activity, which accounted for 63.5% of the total aircraft operations during January 2017, decreased 8.0% when compared with January 2016.

The top three airlines in January 2017 based on passenger count were Southwest Airlines (341,723), American Airlines (125,184) and United Airlines (118,609).
