John Wayne Airport Launches WebTrak Application

(SANTA ANA, CA) – On September 1, 2021, John Wayne Airport successfully launched WebTrak, a web-based flight tracking system that shows aircraft flight activity in the vicinity of the Airport and surrounding neighborhoods. The application supports a public access platform providing residents with the ability to view and research flight activity and provide feedback on noise events.

“Engaging our community and improving the monitoring of flights over our neighborhoods remains a top priority. This new tool will improve transparency and help keep everyone informed with accurate flight information,” said Supervisor Katrina Foley, Second District.

Residents are able to utilize user-friendly tools in WebTrak to locate a date and time of interest and display flight activity at that time. The system has been fully integrated with the current Noise Event Portal, Viewpoint, allowing individuals to report a noise event directly from the WebTrak map interface tool.

“We are dedicated to open communication with our neighbors living and working around John Wayne Airport,” said Barry Rondinella, Airport Director. “Our goal in implementing this new technology is to support community feedback by providing an engaging, easy to use tool to help receive and respond to concerns from our neighbors.”

This interactive, map-based tool provides visual information on aircraft as they depart and arrive at the Airport. The data posted through the application enables the community to see actual flight tracks and noise levels in a way that is easy to understand and facilitates investigation of their noise concern. Everything that is presented through WebTrak is in near real-time, delayed for security purposes, and identical to the data that the Airport utilizes in their Airport Noise and Operations Management System.

John Wayne Airport has one of the most stringent aircraft access and noise monitoring programs in the United States and, perhaps, the world. For more information about the John Wayne Airport Access and Noise Office, please visit https://www.ocair.com/about/administration/access-noise/.
