The Airport Arts Program, overseen by the five member Airport Arts Commission, presents museum-quality exhibitions in the Riley Terminal, provides periodic special programs in conjunction with the exhibitions and sponsors a countywide Annual Student Art Contest/Exhibition. ANNUAL JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT STUDENT ART CONTEST


28th Annual Student Art Contest

Congratulations to all of the 28th Annual John Wayne Airport Student Art Contest Winners!

Students from public and private schools across Orange County had the opportunity to create exciting imagery depicting this year's theme "FLYING IN THE FUTURE."

The artwork was on exhibit at the Airport from December 6, 2017 to January 8, 2018. All of the winning artwork was forwarded to compete at the state level after the Airport exhibition ended. In February 2018, five Orange County students placed at the state level and have now advanced to compete at the national level in Washington, D.C.

FLIGHT OF IDEAS

A large scale three-dimensional sculpture that is installed above the baggage carousels in Terminal C. The sculpture is composed of 21 aluminum birds with wing spans ranging in size from three feet to 14 feet suspended on an "S" shaped structure 100 feet long. Created from aluminum and polycarbonate Plexiglas, the wings of the birds display enlarged portions of multi-colored aeronautical charts. John Wayne Airport commissioned the artist Beth Nybeck of Kansas City, Missouri to create this art work for the new Terminal C.

An exhibition providing a wide-ranging view of the many facets of culinary arts in Orange County titled “In Good Taste” is on display now at John Wayne Airport (JWA). View press release

Location: Departure (upper) Level, across from Gates 2 through 5 in Terminal A, Gates 18 through 21 in Terminal C and in the free standing cases near Gate 14.

Laguna Art Museum Turns 100

"The Laguna Art Museum Turns 100" exhibit is on display at John Wayne Airport's ORANGE COUNTY: Destination Art & Culture exhibition space through December 2018.

COMMUNITY FOCUS SPACE

The Community Focus Space features exhibitions by Orange County artists and local community organizations.

Digital drawings by Bruce Barton will be on display at John Wayne Airport (JWA) as part of JWA’s Community Focus Space Program.
