WHIMSICAL WATERCOLOR PAINTINGS DELIGHT AT JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT
When inspired by a place, thought or dream, watercolor artist Nancy Caldwell’s ideas begin to emerge and her lively and colorful ‘mental play’ doodles start to flow. An exhibit of her innovative artwork style that she calls “Play Drawing Paintings” of fun and fanciful objects, shapes and places, will be on display in the John Wayne Airport Community Focus Space from November 14 – December 13, 2018.

“Nancy Caldwell’s creative and vibrant watercolor paintings are sure to delight visitors and residents alike,” said Orange County Board of Supervisors Chairman Andrew Do. “As you travel through John Wayne Airport, take a moment to enjoy her imaginative creations.”
As a young child, Caldwell always knew that she wanted to be a painter when she grew up. Through the course of her watercolor study and practice painting in a variety of styles, Caldwell’s unique and artistic work stemmed from having doodled and day-dreamed her entire life. Inspirations for her creations occur at the most unexpected times and may relate to real places. Her artwork has been featured in Watercolor Artist magazine, Ones to Watch (Dec. 2015) and in numerous juried exhibitions including the Oceanside Museum of Art/National Watercolor Show, Orange County Fair and California Watercolor Association.
Caldwell’s watercolor art exhibit may be viewed on the Departure (upper) Level near security screening areas in Terminals A, B and C, and on the Arrival (lower) Level adjacent to Baggage Carousels 1 and 4. To learn more about Nancy Caldwell’s work, visit her website at http://necaldwell.com/.
Upcoming Community Focus Space Program includes photographer Joel Brown (December 14 – January 16) and painter Dennis Carrie (January 17 – February 14).
