John Wayne Airport (JWA) announced in May a new program designed to demonstrate how the Airport connects with local commerce, community and conservation efforts.  The JWA Connects program is designed to highlight the many ways the Airport connects travelers, residents, business and the environment in Orange County and Southern California.

County of Orange Issues Draft Environmental Impact Report For Proposed Settlement Agreement Amendment Project

On May 23, 2014, the County of Orange, as the owner and operator of John Wayne Airport, issued Draft Environmental Impact Report 617 (Draft EIR) for the John Wayne Airport Settlement Agreement Amendment Project. Comments on the Draft EIR will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on July 8, 2014.

John Wayne Airport Conducts Full-Scale Drill

On Friday, April 11, more than 500 Airport employees, volunteers, observers and emergency response professionals participated in a mass casualty drill at John Wayne Airport (JWA).  For the first time, the drill also included an on-site Family Reunification Center where “victim” passengers were reunited with other volunteers posing as family members.

In August of 2013, John Wayne Airport (JWA) broke ground on construction of a new facility to house the majority of JWA’s maintenance functions. The Maintenance Building was completed in late March 2014.

Terminal Wi-Fi Upgrade

The Orange County Board of Supervisors has selected Boingo Wireless as John Wayne Airport's new wireless network partner. Boingo will provide comprehensive connectivity services for the Airport and will expand the Airport's existing free Wi-Fi service into areas not previously covered by Wi-Fi, boost cellular coverage, and improve overall wireless connectivity.
