SANTA ANA, Calif. – From August 17, 2017 – September 18, 2017, a series of paintings by artist Joshua Madrid will be on display at John Wayne Airport (JWA) as part of JWA’s Community Focus Space Program (CFS). These works can be viewed on the Departure (upper) Level near security screening areas in Terminals A, B and C, and on the Arrival (lower) Level adjacent to Baggage Carousels 1 and 4.

“There is a boldness within Mr. Madrid’s intricate and colorful work,” said Board Chairwoman Michelle Steel. “His detailed art demonstrates micro and macro aspects for guests to enjoy at John Wayne Airport.”

“I want to express and explore the connection between the micro and macro world of the universe and man by art and design,” said Madrid.

The circle with a center pattern is the basic structure of creation. It is a pattern found in nature and is seen in biology, geology, chemistry, physics and astronomy. The universal language of art explains the connection to this phenomenon.

Born in Los Angeles, Joshua Madrid’s family moved to Newport Beach when he was 6 years old. His strong interest in art began while attending Newport Elementary School. In his early 20s he moved to Los Angeles to attend music school but found himself working on more art than music. It was then that he started to explore the world of concentric designs and his own unique mandala style. Mr. Madrid now shows his works in galleries up and down the coast and has also painted large scale murals of his works in his hometown of Newport Beach, California.

Upcoming Community Focus Space Program artists include Gene Swanson (September 18 – October 18) and Zvi Peshkess (October 18 – November 16).
