SANTA ANA, Calif. - Laguna Woods resident and painter Tom King's diverse collection of landscape paintings will be displayed in the Thomas F. Riley Terminal as part of John Wayne Airport’s Community Focus Space Program. The paintings can be viewed on the Departure (upper) Level near the security screening areas in Terminals A, B and C, and on the Arrival (lower) Level adjacent to Baggage Carousels 1 and 4, from July 15 through August 17, 2015.

"John Wayne Airport is an outstanding venue to feature museum-quality art exhibits, especially those of our local Orange County artists," said Board of Supervisors Chairman Todd Spitzer. "On your next visit to the County's world-class airport, take a look at Tom King's paintings that showcase a few well-known Orange County destinations."

King recreates a diverse selection of scenes from actual and imagined locations, allowing the viewer to experience the artist's perspective. He began delving into the world of art with free-flowing sketches and rough drawings at age 6. In all of his work, King aims to capture the beauty around him, so that others may see and appreciate the world through his eyes.

"I love capturing many vivid colors that allow the viewer to enter into the painting as I have experienced it," said Tom King. "God created all the scenes, embossed them in my mind, and now allows me as an artist to recapture His beautiful creation for others to see and appreciate through my grateful eyes and heart."

From humble beginnings as an orphan in Charleston, South Carolina, King began studying art at a young age. At age 16, King moved to the West Coast, settling in Laguna Beach and eventually beginning a career in the graphic arts department at Rockwell International. Despite his full-time work schedule, King found time to continue his oil paintings and miniature water color comprehensives. His paintings have been exhibited by the Laguna Niguel Art Association, Laguna Woods Village Art Association and at the Festival of the Whales in Dana Point.

Upcoming Community Focus Space Program artists include Ariane Moshayedi (August 18 - September 16) and Sherry Marger (September 17 – October 15). To learn more about JWA's Art Programs, visit
