John Wayne Airport (JWA) anticipates a busier-than-normal travel period between December 16, 2011 and January 3, 2012. Last year, more than 350,000 passengers traveled through JWA during this period. John Wayne Airport announced the opening of its first new concession this week as part of the Airport Improvement Program. Offering hand-selected wines from around the world, Vino Volo brings an additional dining experience to the Airport by offering wine by the glass or bottle, wine tasting, and a selection of gourmet foods. Vino Volo is located in Terminal B across from Gate 9 and is open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

John Wayne Airport (JWA) recently completed the construction of, and has begun operating, a Central Utility Plant adjacent to the Thomas F. Riley Terminal complex. The completion of this project in December 2010 - specifically the electricity generation component - resulted in Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) awarding a $100,000 incentive check to JWA as part of an initiative to encourage companies to utilize natural gas for energy needs. The cogeneration equipment at the Central Utility Plant will generate seven (7) megawatts at peak conditions.
