Effective Wednesday, April 25, United Airlines will temporarily move their ticket counter operations to Terminal C. US Airways counter operations will remain in Terminal B and baggage will be temporarily screened adjacent to their ticket counter. The temporary move of United Airlines ticket counters and lobby baggage screening for US Airways is necessary to allow the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to make security upgrades to the baggage handling system in Terminal B.

Eight Orange County students have been recognized in the state level of the 2012 International Aviation Student Art Contest, themed "Silent Flight." Of these students, three have also had their artwork honored at the National Level of the competition. Effective Saturday, February 25, 2012, Continental Airlines at John Wayne Airport will move from Terminal A to Terminal B. This move is part of the ongoing integration of United Airlines and Continental Airlines since closure of their merger on October 1, 2010. Passengers traveling with Continental Airlines will find the new ticket counters located adjacent to United in Terminal B.

In order to continue the upgrade of the security screening checkpoints at John Wayne Airport, alternating lanes within the Terminal A passenger security checkpoint will close beginning MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 2012. While the checkpoint itself will remain open, the number of screening lanes will be reduced. During this time, passengers departing John Wayne Airport should plan ahead giving themselves extra time to get through screening and find their gate.

John Wayne Airport (JWA) will be hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive on January 26, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be parked on the Lower (arrival) Level at the red curb outside of the Thomas F. Riley Terminal Administrative Offices, 18601 Airport Way, Santa Ana. Donors may sign up in advance at www.givelife.org. Walk-ins are also welcome on the day of the drive.

John Wayne Airport has announced the winners of its 22nd Annual Student Art Contest themed "Silent Flight." Jasmyne Kon and Alexander Kang received top honors as Grand Prize winners in this year's contest.

As part of an ongoing seismic retrofitting project, a portion of the lower (arrival) level roadway entrance to the Airport will be narrowed to allow for construction on the pillars reinforcing the upper (departure) level roadway. The pillars will also be wrapped according to the new Terminal A, B and C color schemes to better identify passenger pickup locations.
