TSA Pre✓™ Program Expands at John Wayne Airport – Screening Lanes Now Open in Terminals A, B and C
The popular expedited screening program – Pre✓™ by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has expanded to include eligible Southwest Airlines passengers. Now travelers at John Wayne Airport (JWA) can take advantage of their Pre✓™ status at all three security checkpoints in the Riley Terminal.
TSA this month also announced it will begin a new application process allowing U.S. citizens to directly enroll in TSA Pre✓™, an expedited screening program that allows travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and their 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels bag in a carry-on, in select screening lanes.
“This new application process will greatly increase the availability of TSA Pre✓™ benefits to a broader population of travelers nationwide,” said TSA Administrator John S. Pistole. “TSA Pre✓™ is enabling us to move away from a one-size-fits-all approach to transportation security, as we look for more opportunities to provide the most effective security in the most efficient way.”
All TSA Pre✓™ program applicants must visit an application center in-person to verify their identity and citizenship/immigration status as well as to provide fingerprints. TSA and JWA are currently discussing the possibility of establishing an application center in Orange County. Learn more about the new application process for TSA Pre✓™.
Hours of operation for TSA Pre✓™ at John Wayne Airport:
TSA’s latest initiative will make it easier than ever to enroll in the Pre✓™ program. Alternatively, travelers can opt-in through an airline’s frequent flier program (Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Southwest, United Airlines and US Airways) or be enrolled in one of U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Global Entry, SENTRI or NEXUS Trusted Traveler Programs. Global Entry, which allows travelers returning to the U.S. from Mexico to clear Customs quickly, is available at John Wayne Airport. Learn more here.
Nationwide, more than 25 million travelers have taken advantage of the TSA Pre✓™ program, which continues to be expanded to airports around the country. Read more about TSA Pre✓™ here.
