New Air Carrier Services Announced at JWA – Orange County Travelers Can Fly Nonstop to Hawaii and Toronto
Orange County travelers can say “aloha” to the Hawaiian Islands direct from JWA once again. Since Aloha Airlines discontinued service after declaring bankruptcy in 2008, Orange County had no direct flights to Hawaii. However, beginning March 6, Continental Airlines began operating four-times-weekly flights between Orange County and Maui and daily service to Honolulu.
In other exciting air carrier news, Air Canada plans to begin operating daily service between John Wayne Airport and Toronto, Canada on April 8. These will be JWA’s first regularly scheduled international flights and will allow Orange County residents a direct route to the east coast and Europe via Air Canada. Although Customs clearance will take place in Canada, passengers departing Orange County will need to travel with a valid passport. Another change passengers may notice at John Wayne Airport is the merger of Northwest Airlines and Delta Air Lines. All ticket counter lobby locations and facilities of Northwest have moved to Delta Air Lines’ location in Terminal A. For more information on the merger, visit http://www.delta.com/help/faqs/merger/.
