Concourse B Wall Graphics
In the last issue of new directions we told you about the new 22-foot high temporary “Great Wall” at the south end of Terminal B that stretches the length of the concourse from Gate 1 nearly to Gate 4 – more than 400 feet long. The wall has recently been “wrapped” in graphics created by Luis Alvarado Design and installed by Outdoor Dimensions. Three life size renderings created by Gensler, the Terminal C architect, are also located on the wall and depict how some of our new facilities will look once completed in late 2011. After exploring many design concepts, the wall has been transformed from a blank canvas into an exciting and informative installation providing passengers with both directional signage and a realistic view of the improvements that the Airport Improvement Program will bring. The wrap is made from a heavy vinyl type material and adheres to the wall just like wallpaper.
Pictured below is a photo of the South Commuter Hold Room rendering as it appears on the barricade wall. JWA is building new permanent commuter terminals at the north and south ends of the Riley Terminal. Each will feature three gates for commuter aircraft, seating, and concessions, providing passengers with a more comfortable and convenient traveling experience. These new facilities will replace the existing modular North and South Commuter Hold Rooms that have been in use for much of the past decade.
JWA is also adding new facilities to accommodate international passenger service. Pictured below is a rendering of the new international arrivals hall as it appears on the barricade wall. International passengers arriving to JWA will be processed by Customs and Border Protection. With the new facilities, airlines serving JWA will have the ability to provide international service to and from exciting new destinations in Canada, Mexico, and Central America.
Pictured below is the new concessions area as it appears on the barricade wall. The new concessions area will feature additional news and gift retailers and food and beverage concessions, offering additional amenities for travelers.
