John Wayne Airport Successfully Passes its Annual FAA Part 139 Certification Inspection
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires all U.S. airports providing commercial airline services to comply with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 139 at all times. FAR Part 139 serves to ensure safety in air transportation and defines the standards within which an airport must operate on a daily basis.
John Wayne Airport consistently passes its annual FAA certification inspections successfully, with no discrepancies noted by inspectors. This was again the case for JWA's 2013 annual certification inspection.
The comprehensive annual airport inspection focuses on such areas as condition of runway and taxiway pavement, markings and lighting; accuracy and completeness of records for facility self-inspections and training of personnel; and aircraft fueling operations. Inspectors also critique the airport's certification manual – a comprehensive document that includes an emergency plan for a variety of operational scenarios.
Passing the FAR Part 139 inspection is a significant accomplishment made possible through dedicated efforts by JWA staff and partners who work together to provide high quality aviation services and facilities for Orange County in a safe, secure and efficient manner.
