Great Southern California ShakeOut DrillAs part of our ongoing emergency preparedness efforts, John Wayne Airport participated in the 2009 Great Southern California ShakeOut Drill. At 10:30 in the morning on October 15, JWA employees joined millions of Californians who practiced the “Drop, Cover and Hold On” response to a major earthquake. The ShakeOut Drill is part of the larger Golden Guardian Exercise Series, the nation’s largest state-sponsored emergency preparedness exercise endeavor, and is designed to raise awareness and test California’s ability to react and recover during a major earthquake. The Great American ShakeOut will be held statewide on the third Thursday of October each year. Make preparedness a priority, visit www.readyOC.org, a centralized regional Web site for emergency preparedness resources. For more information on earthquake preparedness, visit www.oes.ca.gov.
