Contractor Spotlight: Walker Parking Consultants

Editor’s note: John Wayne Airport is proud to work with a group of first-rate contractors and, in subsequent newsletters, will highlight different members of the Airport Improvement Program team.

 
 
Walker Parking Consultants joined the Airport Improvement Program in June of 2007 when they were chosen by the Orange County Board of Supervisors to perform design and construction administrative services for the deconstruction of Parking Structure B1 and to provide geotechnical services for construction of Parking Structure C.

Walker Parking Consultants used a Building Information Modeling (BIM), a computer-generated,
three-dimensional (3D) model, to show the layout of Parking Structure C.

The firm was founded in 1965 by Mr. Carl Walker. With 13 offices located around the United States, and over 300 employees, the firm is one of the largest parking consultants in the nation. With over 8,000 completed parking projects in its portfolio, Walker Parking Consultants is widely known as an industry leader in the parking arena.

Other Walker Parking projects include the Santa Ana Civic Center Parking Structure and an eight story, 1,800 space parking structure for the Honolulu International Airport, which opened this past winter.

The recipient of multiple awards, Walker Parking Consultants was recently awarded the 2009 Award of Excellence and Honorable Mention Architectural Award from the International Parking Institute for their design of the Underhill Parking Facility and Field Replacement project at the University of California, Berkeley, which included the construction of a parking facility with a recreational sports field on the upper (roof) level.
