Women Pilots Descend on JWA

Atlantic Aviation welcomes the 99s Atlantic Aviation banner welcoming the 99s

Arriving by both private aircraft and commercial carrier, 150 women pilots met in October for a regional meeting of The Ninety-Nines, an international organization of women pilots founded by Amelia Earhart in 1929. The Ninety-Nines are dedicated to promoting aviation, encouraging aeronautical education and preserving the history of women in flight. The Orange County chapter hosted the three day event, with Atlantic Aviation welcoming private aircraft and additional support provided by local aviation businesses. Attendees were treated to a tour of the Lyon Air Museum and the Airport's Fire Station #33. The event also included two standing-room-only educational seminars: one from local Ninety-Nine member, Captain Kristen Davis on flying the Goodyear blimp and a presentation on terrorism identification techniques given by Amalia Ramirez of the Air and Marine Operations Center (AMOC) located in Riverside.

Orange County chapter members, made up of corporate, commercial and general aviation pilots, promote aviation through hosting seminars and annual events to benefit the community and other pilots.
