Airport Police Services Special Officers Save a Passenger’s Life
In July, a quick response by three Airport Police Services' Sheriff Special Officers (SSO) at John Wayne Airport (JWA) helped save a passenger's life. Officers Dan Beam, David Rapponatti and Kyle Robertson arrived on scene to find a 76-year-old man not breathing and without a pulse. Not only did the SSO’s provide CPR, but they also used an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) – and that made the difference. The man started breathing and was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
Aquired by JWA in 2011, 19 AEDs are available to emergency responders in the Thomas F. Riley Terminal. JWA has multiple staff members and emergency responders trained in the use of AEDs. Thank you Officers Beam, Rapponatti and Robertson for your quick thinking and lifesaving efforts!
