Update on the John Wayne Airport Settlement Agreement Amendment

John Wayne AirportThe County of Orange/John Wayne Airport (the County) is currently preparing an Environmental Impact Report (No. 617) for the proposed John Wayne Airport Settlement Agreement Amendment. In October 2013, the County released a Notice of Preparation (NOP) and held a scoping meeting to solicit comments on the content and scope of the EIR.  Airport staff and its consultant team have reviewed the NOP comments and are currently preparing technical studies which will aid in the preparation of a Draft EIR. The primary technical studies focus on the topics of aviation, air quality, noise and traffic.

The next step in the process is the publication of a Draft EIR for public review and comment. The Draft EIR is expected to be circulated in the second quarter of 2014 for a 45 day comment period. During the comment period, the public will have the opportunity to submit written comments on the Draft EIR.

Following the public comment period, responses to comments on the Draft EIR will be prepared.  The completed EIR, including responses to comments, is scheduled to be presented to the Board of Supervisors for consideration in late summer 2014.
