SANTA ANA, Calif. –
In anticipation of the nation’s most heavily traveled holiday weekend, John Wayne Airport (SNA) offers tips to help travelers prepare for a safe and enjoyable holiday travel experience.
If your flight is scheduled to depart between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., allow a minimum of two (2) hours for parking, check-in and security screening. That includes Saturday and Sunday.
Please pack your bags with the “3-1-1 On Air Travel” in mind:
3 ounces or less size containers of liquid or gel
1 quart-size, clear plastic, zip-top bag holding 3 ounces or less containers
1 bag per traveler placed separately in the security bin
To ensure the health and welfare of certain air travelers there are no limits on the amounts of certain liquids, gels and aerosols you may carry through a security checkpoint including baby formula and breast milk if a baby or small child is traveling and all prescription and over-the-counter medications. For a full list of approved items, go to www.tsa.gov.
Transportation Security Administration (TSA) staff will enforce the rule above and the “1+1” rule. That means you are allowed one carry-on bag and one personal item – such as a purse, briefcase, laptop computer or diaper bag – through the security screening and onto the aircraft. Remember – no prohibited items in your carry-on luggage. More information about this and a list of prohibited items can be found at www.tsa.gov.
Passengers are encouraged to seek alternative methods of transportation to and from the Airport, including shuttle and taxi services, public transportation, friends or family. Be prepared and call ahead for parking status at (949) 252-5200. John Wayne Airport offers a variety of parking options. Terminal parking is available in A1, A2, B1 and B2, as well as via our convenient curbside Valet Parking. Remote parking is available at the Airport’s “Main Street” lot. Complimentary shuttle service to the Terminal is offered every 15 minutes.
Last year, nearly 160,000 passengers passed through the Thomas F. Riley Terminal during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend (Wednesday through Monday). The busiest travel days this year are expected to be Wednesday, November 22 and Monday, November 27, but travelers should be aware of an expanded travel window with holiday passengers traveling in higher than normal volumes starting Friday, November 17.
