SANTA ANA, Calif. – John Wayne Airport (JWA) is expecting a busy Fourth of July holiday weekend, which is traditionally one of the busiest travel periods of the year. To ensure smooth and timely travel, passengers are encouraged to allow additional time to park or seek alternative methods of transportation including shuttle and taxi services, public transportation, friends or family. Last year, 142,620 passengers traveled through JWA during the Fourth of July weekend (June 30 through July 4), with the heaviest travel days on the Thursday and Friday before the holiday weekend.
“In anticipation of heavy passenger loads for the holiday weekend and the entire summer, we have implemented a number of customer service measures at the Airport to help make every traveler’s experience at JWA both safe and smooth,” said Airport Director Alan Murphy.
Murphy has asked all JWA employees to work shifts throughout the summer assisting travelers in the terminal lobbies and security screening lines. JWA’s motto this summer is “Time Flies! Let’s make sure you do.” Following are tips to help ensure passengers have a good travel experience at John Wayne Airport.
Plan Smart: If your flight is scheduled to depart between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., please allow a minimum of two (2) hours for parking, check-in and security screening.
Park Smart: Be prepared for Transportation Security Administration (TSA) staff to enforce the “1+1” rule. That means you are allowed one carry-on bag and one personal item – such as a purse, briefcase, laptop computer or diaper bag.
Park Smart: JWA offers a variety of parking options. Four terminal parking structures at the rate of $17 per day, an off-site parking lot for $12 per day and convenient valet parking for $23 per day are available.
During 4th of July weekend, it is also important that passengers remember fireworks are illegal and to leave fireworks at home. This will avoid any legal violations and time delays. Check with TSA (www.tsatraveltips.us) for more information on security and prohibited items and JWA (www.ocair.com or (949) 252-5200) for additional Airport information. |
