SANTA ANA, CA – Labor Day weekend
signals the end of summer travel for many. More than 2.3 million
passengers have traveled through John Wayne Airport (JWA) this summer,
80,000
more than in 2004.
Like many holidays, thousands of passengers
will use JWA this coming Labor Day. In preparing for the weekend,
JWA reminds travelers “Time Flies! Let’s make sure
you do.” This is the theme of the Airport’s customer service plan to help ease
passengers’ experience at JWA during this busier-than-ever summer.
“June and July set records for passenger levels
at the Airport,” said John Wayne Airport Director Alan Murphy. “We
encourage travelers to plan ahead by
arriving
early to find parking and get through the screening lines smoothly and efficiently.”
In an effort to make holiday travel as comfortable and stress
free as possible John Wayne Airport offers the following travel
tips:
JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT TRAVEL TIPS
Plan Smart: If your
flight is scheduled to depart between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., please
allow a minimum of two (2) hours for parking, check-in and security
screening. That includes Saturday and Sunday.
Pack
Smart: Be prepared for Transportation Security Administration
(TSA) staff to enforce the “1+1” rule. That means you are allowed
one carry-on bag and one personal item – such as a purse, briefcase,
laptop computer or diaper bag – through the security screening
and onto the aircraft. Remember – no prohibited items in your carry-on
luggage. “Divesting tables” for passengers to place personal items
(keys, wallets, cell phones) in a plastic bag to facilitate security
screening are available at the security checkpoints.
Park
Smart: JWA offers a variety of parking options. Four terminal
parking structures at the rate of $17 per day, an off-site parking
lot for $12 per day and convenient valet parking for $23 per day
are available.
