ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
TO HONOR WINNERS OF 14th ANNUAL
JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT STUDENT ART CONTEST
Students Won At State, National, and International
Levels Of Aviation Art Competition

(Santa Ana, CA) – Nineteen of Orange County’s most gifted young artists will be recognized next Tuesday by the Orange County Board of Supervisors for their award winning entries in John Wayne Airport’s 14th Annual Student Art Contest. The students, winners at the local county level of the annual aviation art competition, all went on to win additional State, National, and International awards for their entries.

“The quality of the artwork we received was extremely impressive,” said John Wayne Airport Director Alan Murphy. “It is no wonder that many of the entries went on to win at the state, national, and international levels of the competition. They made a lot of parents, art teachers, school officials, and John Wayne Airport officials very proud.”

The Annual John Wayne Airport Student Art Contest is formally sponsored by the National Aeronautic Association, National Association of State Aviation Officials, and Federal Aviation Administration, in cooperation with the Federation Aéronautique Internationale. Nearly 2,000 student entries were received by the Airport for this year’s competition, which was themed “Flying Saves Lives.“ The winning entries received prizes donated by local businesses, had their artwork hung at John Wayne Airport’s Thomas F. Riley Terminal, and then went on to compete at the State, National, and International level of the competition.

The student art contest winners will be honored on Tuesday, May 18 at the
9:30 a.m. Orange County Board of Supervisors meeting at the Hall of Administration Board Chambers at 10 Civic Center Plaza in Santa Ana. Their winning artwork can be viewed on JWA’s Web site at .http://www.ocair.com/Art/JWAContest.htm
