DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY LOWERS JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT ALERT LEVEL TO YELLOW

Santa Ana, CA – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officially notified John Wayne Airport today that the alert level issued for the Airport by the Department of Homeland Security has been lowered from Orange to Yellow.

In response to the change in alert level all roadway closures will be reopened by 7 a.m. on Saturday, January 10. This includes the Michelson entrance off of MacArthur Boulevard and the direct airport entrance from the I-405 Freeway (MacArthur exit).

"John Wayne Airport remains in full compliance with all federal security directives to ensure the safety of all travelers and visitors to the Airport," said Airport Director Alan L. Murphy. "We will continue to work with local, state and federal officials to provide a safe and secure environment."

Passengers are advised to still arrive two hours prior to their scheduled flight to allow time for parking, check-in and the security screening process. They may park in any of the Terminal garages. Although, roadway vehicle inspections have been discontinued, Airport visitors should be aware that if they do park in any of the Terminal garages, their vehicle may be subject to search by Airport Police Services. Additional parking is available in Valet Parking, or the Main Street Parking Lot.
