|
Santa Ana, CA – John Wayne Airport Director Alan Murphy and the Airport Arts Commission is pleased to announce that 54 Orange County students will receive awards in the 2002 John Wayne Airport Student Art Contest themed, "100 Years of Powered Flight." A list of student winners by city and school is attached and may also be found on our Web site by visiting www.ocair.com. Student artwork selected for the exhibition will be on display from December 2, 2002 through January 5, 2003 in the Arrival Gallery (lower level) of the Thomas F. Riley Terminal. All contestants whose artwork is on exhibition, and their families, have been invited to a reception at John Wayne Airport to announce and honor the 2002 winners and honorable mentions. Hosted by the County of Orange, the John Wayne Airport Arts Commission, and McDonald’s John Wayne Airport, the reception will take place on Sunday, December 15, 2002 from 2 to 4 p.m. opposite Baggage Carousel One on the lower level of the Thomas F. Riley Terminal. Approximately 2,000 students participated in this year’s contest. A jury comprised of a professional artist and an airport administrator selected the artworks to be exhibited for general public viewing. From here, all Orange County contest winners will be entered in the State level competition. State level contest winners move on to the National competition and those winners move on to the International level. Orange County has traditionally produced many winners at all advanced levels, including International. -SNA- |
