JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT HELPS PASSENGERS "PREPARE FOR TAKEOFF"

Santa Ana, CA – Tonight at 10:00 p.m., John Wayne Airport's B1 (Southwest) parking garage will close to the general public for entering vehicles as part of the ongoing seismic remediation construction project, which began in May. The A1 (Northwest) parking garage will remain closed over the weekend and will reopen to the general public at 4:30 a.m. Monday, November 11. The parking structures are located directly adjacent to the Thomas F. Riley Terminal on the west side.

John Wayne Airport (SNA), in collaboration with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), launched Prepare for Takeoff, the new passenger awareness campaign to inform travelers about new security measures at the nation’s airports. The campaign will help passengers prepare for travel before they go to the airport and assist them once they arrive.

"Our goal is to balance the security of the traveling public, while maintaining superior customer service," said Airport Director Alan Murphy. "In light of recent changes, the more up-to-date information we can provide passengers in preparing for their trip, undoubtedly provides a benefit to both the traveler and Airport alike."

Passengers are encouraged to actively participate in the Prepare for Takeoff campaign by becoming familiar with the new timesaving tips and recommendations to help minimize stress. As a part of that effort, John Wayne Airport has committed to help the TSA distribute educational information to the public.

"The Prepare for Takeoff campaign is an integral part of the TSA’s overall plan for providing world class security and world class customer service," said Adm. James M. Loy, Acting Under Secretary of Transportation for Security. "With leaders from the aviation, travel and tourism industries participating, and cooperation from well-prepared travelers, the TSA’s resources can be more efficiently focused on providing maximum security for everyone."

Other partners in this campaign include the airlines, travel agents and customer service organizations that interact with air passengers. Educational information and messages are available on the TSA website at http://www.tsa.dot.gov.
