John Wayne Airport Entering Phase Two of Parking Garage Seismic Remediation Project

Santa Ana, CA – Tonight at 10:00 p.m., John Wayne Airport's B1 (Southwest) parking garage will close to the general public for entering vehicles as part of the ongoing seismic remediation construction project, which began in May. The A1 (Northwest) parking garage will remain closed over the weekend and will reopen to the general public at 4:30 a.m. Monday, November 11. The parking structures are located directly adjacent to the Thomas F. Riley Terminal on the west side.

During this weekend (all day Saturday and Sunday), parking will be available in the east side garages (A2 or B2), Valet Parking, or the Main Street Parking Lot.

The seismic remediation of the Northwest and Southwest parking structures are being completed in two phases: Phase One (Northwest – Garage A1) to be completed Monday, November 11, 2002 and Phase Two (Southwest – Garage B1) will be completed in April 2003.

Passengers are advised to arrive two hours prior to their scheduled flight to allow time for parking, check-in and the security screening process.

The Board of Supervisors awarded the construction contract to Fibrwrap Construction, Inc. on February 26, 2002. The total cost of the project is estimated to be $2,999,000.
