|
SANTA ANA, CA – John Wayne Airport (JWA) will host the 56th annual Southwest Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives (SWAAAE) conference, July 7 – 11, 2002 at the Marriott Hotel and Tennis Club, Newport Beach, California. SWAAAE, a non-profit organization, is composed of aviation executives from the southwestern United States, including California, Arizona, Utah, and Nevada. This year’s conference promises to be both timely and interesting. A total of seven business sessions are scheduled, including a post-September 11th look at the future of aviation in the United States, a discussion of airport security technology, and a focused discussion of current and projected trends in general aviation aircraft ownership and services. "John Wayne Airport is pleased to host this year’s SWAAAE conference," said Alan Murphy, Airport Director. "Broad discussions of the future of U. S. aviation will be presented from various perspectives within the aviation industry, particularly with respect to post-September 11th." Featured speakers include: Michael D. Robinson, senior aviation official within the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Mr. Robinson will discuss the Administration’s mission and goals as well as its progress in meeting federal mandates; Robert Gilliland, first pilot to fly the Lockheed SR-71, and recipient of the Godfrey L. Cabot Award in 2001; and Jim Phillips, Vice President & General Manager of the Boeing 717 Program and Long Beach Site, to name just a few. Additional information regarding the conference may be found on the John Wayne Airport Web site at www.ocair.com, or by contacting Ann McCarley at amccarley@ocair.com. The purpose of SWAAAE is to bring together all persons representing publicly owned and privately owned airports and others interested in working for the benefit of airports and to set and maintain a consistently high level of ethics in airport management. -SNA- |
