SANTA ANA, CA – Effective Monday, May 6, 2002, levels 1 and 2 of the John Wayne Airport (JWA) Northwest parking structure (Garage A1) will close to the public to accommodate the start of a seismic remediation construction project. The parking structure is located directly adjacent to the Terminal on the north end. The seismic remediation of the Northwest and Southwest parking structures will be completed in two phases: Phase One (Northwest – Garage A1) -- May 6, 2002 through mid-October 2002 and Phase Two (Southwest – Garage B1) -- mid-October through April 2003. Retrofit work will begin on levels 1 and 2 of the Northwest parking structure on May 20, and will last approximately 12 weeks. Levels 3 and 4 of the A1 garage will remain open for public use during this time. Approximately mid-August, level 1 will reopen and levels 3 and 4 will close until mid-October. Parking customers will enter and exit the A1 garage from departure level 3. During the construction phase, patrons are advised to use the East Parking Structure in addition to curbside Valet Parking and Main Street Parking. Shuttle service to and from the Terminal is provided every 15 minutes from the Main Street Lot. The Board of Supervisors awarded the construction contract to Fibrwrap Construction, Inc. on February 26, 2002. The total cost of the project is estimated to be $2,999,000. -SNA- |
