JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT OPENS

SANTA ANA, CA – The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced earlier today that the John Wayne Airport airspace has re-opened. John Wayne Airport is prepared to open its doors to the public beginning at 10:00 a.m.

"John Wayne Airport and the air carriers are looking forward to serving the public with their travel needs as soon as possible," said Airport Director Alan L. Murphy. "Because our Airlines have indicated they will run a limited number of flights today, it is important that passengers check with their airline regarding flight schedules prior to coming to the airport."

Due to heightened security measures, passengers must adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Arrive at least two hours prior to flight departure to allow for parking, longer lines at check-in and at the security checkpoints. Vehicles parking in terminal lots are subject to inspections;
  • Curbside check-in will not be permitted;
  • Only ticketed passengers will be permitted through the security checkpoints;
  • All knives of any kind or cutting objects will not be permitted through the security checkpoints;
  • Be prepared to show photo identification; and
  • Luggage should not be left unattended.
