Focus VII: Orange County Artists
Art-Associations
Opens At John Wayne Airport
Loan Leblow, Interim Director of the John Wayne Airport and the John Wayne Airport Arts Commission are pleased to announce the opening of the latest Airport Arts Program exhibit, "FOCUS VII: Orange County Artists ART-ASSOCIATIONS." The exhibition, which opened September 28, 1998, focuses on the diversity of art now being created in Orange County and the captivating, multi-faceted associations between the 18 pairs of artworks on exhibit.
Guest Curator, Pat Sparkuhl, an Orange County artist and Orange Coast College Art Instructor comments, "We live in a society of considerable mobility and diversity, much the same as what is currently happening within art. My interest is to explore some of the possibilities that exist by juxtaposing what is commonly referred to as traditional, with contemporary. Methods, elements, or themes with contemporary perspectives on similar traditional considerations seemed like an interesting interplay between the Airport and art."
The exhibition includes just a glimpse into the wide variety of individual expression occurring in Orange County. It explores the range of pluralism in art existing within a specific geographical area where transition and diversity continue to be the primary dynamic features.
Air travelers, Airport visitors and the Orange County community are invited to view this fascinating and highly expressive display located on the Departure Level of the Thomas F. Riley Terminal opposite Gates 1 through 4 and 11 through 14. The exhibition is on display through November 29, 1998.
