Santa Ana, CA – John Wayne Airport and the Airport Arts Commission are pleased to announce the winners of the 9^th Annual John Wayne Airport Student Art Contest. A list of student winners is attached. The winning artwork will be on display on the departure level opposite gates 1-4 and 11-14 and on the arrival level in the baggage claim area of the Thomas F. Riley Terminal through January 24, 1999.

A reception was held on Sunday, December 13, 1998 to announce and honor 105 student winners and to mark the opening of the exhibition. More than 200 students, parents and teachers were in attendance for the reception hosted by the County of Orange, the John Wayne Airport Arts Commission and McDonald’s John Wayne Airport.

Nearly 4,000 Orange County students participated in the contest which was themed, "Flying is Fun." Jurors included two artists from Santa Ana, a pilot from the Orange County Chapter of the Ninety-Nines and an Operations Manager from John Wayne Airport. The winning works will also be judged in the 1999 International Aviation Art Contest.
