Santa Ana,
CA –
Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport increased in July 2005 as compared
to July 2004. In July 2005, the passenger traffic count
was 898,521, an increase of 3.3% when compared to the July
2004 passenger traffic count of 869,481.
“Travelers
should continue to plan ahead when visiting JWA,” said Airport
Director Alan Murphy. “We are only
half way through our busy summer, so arriving two-hours
early will give passengers time to park and get through the security check
points.”
Travelers should also remember the 1+1 rule. Only one carry-on and one small
item, such as a purse or briefcase are allowed on the plane.
Commercial
Carrier flight operations showed a decrease of 3.4%, while
Commuter Carrier (air taxi) operations
showed an increase of 11.2% when compared to
the same levels recorded in July 2004.
Total aircraft
operations decreased in July 2005 as compared to the same
month in 2004. In July 2005, the total aircraft operations (take-offs and
landings)
were 30,480, a decrease of 4.8% when compared to the July 2004 total aircraft
operations count of 32,026.
General aviation activity, which accounted for 71% of the
total aircraft operations during July 2005, showed a
decrease of 6.2% when compared to July
2004.
