JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT POSTS MAY STATISTICS

Santa Ana, CA – Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport increased in May 2005 as compared to May 2004. In May 2005, the passenger traffic count was 831,462, an increase of 9.2% when compared to the 761,268 passenger traffic count of May 2004.

Commercial Carrier flight operations showed a decrease of 1.7%, while Commuter Carrier (air taxi) operations showed a decrease of 7.6% when compared to the same levels recorded in May 2004.

Total aircraft operations decreased in May 2005 as compared to the same month in 2004. In May 2005, the total aircraft operations (take-offs and landings) were 31,003, a decrease of 2.6% when compared to the May 2004 total aircraft operations count of 31,838.

General aviation activity, which accounted for 72% of the total aircraft operations during May 2005, showed a decrease of 2.6% when compared to May 2004.

John Wayne Airport is a self-supporting enterprise, owned and operated by the County of Orange.
