JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT PASSENGER LEVELS REMAIN STRONG IN 2005
Passenger Levels Continue Healthy Gains After Record Year In 2004

Santa Ana – After posting a record year for passenger levels in 2004, travelers continue to make John Wayne Airport (JWA) their airport of choice. January 2005 passenger traffic figures showed a solid increase of 4.5% over the same period in 2004 as 704,106 travelers came through the Thomas F. Riley Terminal.

“We used to view increased passenger levels as a new trend, but the increases have become part of our daily operations,” said John Wayne Airport Director Alan Murphy. “Orange County’s strong local economy and our range of nonstop destinations and carriers continue to attract passengers,” noted Murphy.

Commercial Carrier flight operations showed no change, while total aircraft operations decreased by 10.5% when compared to January 2004. General aviation activity, which accounted for 68% of the total aircraft operations during January 2005, showed a decrease of 14.1% when compared to January 2004.

John Wayne Airport is a self-supporting enterprise, owned and operated by the County of Orange.
