Ana - John Wayne Airport passenger levels continued to rise at a steady
pace as 759,365 travelers passed through the Thomas F. Riley Terminal in March
2004. This 15.7% increase over March 2003 continues a string of consecutive months
with record setting passenger levels.
“We expect our passenger levels to continue to rise as we enter the summer
travel season,” said John Wayne Airport Director Alan Murphy. “Our success
is a product
of our environment as Orange County continues to shine as a premier business
and vacation travel destination, but also inspired by our central location
and customer accessible amenities such as adjacent parking facilities and
a pedestrian
friendly Terminal.”
Total aircraft operations at the Airport also increased this March with a
total of 30,239 take offs and landings -- an increase of 1.5% from the
same time
last year. In addition, Commercial Carrier flight operations showed an increase
of
7.3%, while Commuter Carrier (air taxi) operations posted an increase of
55.4%, primarily due to the addition of Atlantic Southeast Airlines/Delta
Connections,
which began service as a new entrant last September 1, 2003. John Wayne Airport
is a self-supporting enterprise, owned and operated by the County of Orange.
