Airport Statistics: July 2003

(Santa Ana, CA) - Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport increased in July 2003 as compared to July 2002. In July 2003, the passenger traffic count was 814,123, an increase of 9.3% when compared to the July 2002 passenger traffic count of 744,875.

In addition, Commercial Carrier flight operations showed a decrease of 3.0%, while Commuter Carrier (air taxi) operations showed an increase of 31.2% when compared to the same levels recorded in July 2002.

Total aircraft operations decreased in July 2003 as compared to the same month in 2002. In July 2003, the total aircraft operations (take-offs and landings) were 30,473, a decrease of 6.8% when compared to the July 2002 total aircraft operations count of 32,711.

General aviation activity, which accounted for 72% of the total aircraft operations during July 2003, showed a decrease of 9.5% when compared to July 2002.
