Airport Statistics: June 2003

(Santa Ana, CA) - Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport increased in June 2003 as compared to June 2002. In June 2003, the passenger traffic count was 745,140, an increase of 4.1% when compared to the June 2002 passenger traffic count of 715,613.

In addition, Commercial Carrier flight operations showed a decrease of 5.9%, while Commuter Carrier (air taxi) operations showed an increase of 162.2% when compared to the same levels recorded in June 2002.

Total aircraft operations decreased in June 2003 as compared to the same month in 2002. In June 2003, the total aircraft operations (take-offs and landings) were 29,028, a decrease of 8.8% when compared to the June 2002 total aircraft operations count of 31,839.

General aviation activity, which accounted for 72% of the total aircraft operations during June 2003, showed a decrease of 13.3% when compared to June 2002.
