JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT POSTS MAY STATISTICS

(Santa Ana, CA) - Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport increased in May 2003 as compared to May 2002. In May 2003, the passenger traffic count was 701,036 an increase of 1.0% when compared to the May 2002 passenger traffic count of 694,333.

In addition, Commercial Carrier flight operations showed a decrease of -6.2%, while Commuter Carrier (air taxi) operations showed an increase of 148.7% when compared to the same levels recorded in May 2002.

Total aircraft operations decreased in May 2003 as compared to the same month in 2002. In May 2003, the total aircraft operations (take-offs and landings) were 30,190, a decrease of -9.0% when compared to the May 2002 total aircraft operations count of 33,165.

General aviation activity, which accounted for 73% of the total aircraft operations during May 2003, showed a decrease of -13.1% when compared to May 2002.
