Airport Statistics: January 2003

(Santa Ana, CA) - Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport increased in January 2003 as compared to January 2002. In January 2003, the passenger traffic count was 617,319, an increase of 11.7% when compared to the January 2002 passenger traffic count of 552,496.

In addition, Commercial Carrier flight operations showed an increase of 2.1%, while Commuter Carrier (air taxi) operations showed an increase of 99.2% when compared to the same levels recorded in January 2002.

Total aircraft operations decreased in January 2003 as compared to the same month in 2002. In January 2003, the total aircraft operations (take-offs and landings) were 28,230, a decrease of 4.6% when compared to the January 2002 total aircraft operations count of 29,597.

General aviation activity, which accounted for 71% of the total aircraft operations during January 2003, showed a decrease of 9.2% when compared to January 2002.

John Wayne Airport is a self-supporting enterprise, owned and operated by the County of Orange.
