| JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT POSTS MAY STATISTICS |

Ana, CA) - Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport increased in May
2002 as compared to May 2001. In May 2002, the passenger traffic count was
694,333, an increase of 7.5% when compared to the May 2001 passenger traffic
count of 645,617. In addition, Commercial Carrier flight operations showed a
decrease of 0.4%, while Commuter Carrier (air taxi) operations showed a decrease
of 42.4% when compared to the same levels recorded in May 2001.
Total aircraft operations increased in May 2002 as compared to the same month in 2001. In May 2002, the total aircraft operations (take-offs and landings) were 33,165, an increase of 1.2% when compared to the May 2001 total aircraft operations count of 32,762. General aviation activity, which accounted for 76% of the total aircraft operations during May 2002, showed an increase of 3.3% when compared to May 2001. John Wayne Airport is a self-supporting enterprise, owned and operated by the County of Orange. |
