| JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT POSTS APRIL STATISTICS |

Ana, CA) - Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport increased in
April 2002 as compared to April 2001. In April 2002, the passenger traffic count
was 657,598, an increase of 5.6% when compared to the April 2001 passenger
traffic count of 622,694.
In addition, Commercial Carrier flight operations showed an increase of 1.3%, while Commuter Carrier (air taxi) operations showed a decrease of 45.3% when compared to the same levels recorded in April 2001. Total aircraft operations decreased in April 2002 as compared to the same month in 2001. In April 2002, the total aircraft operations (take-offs and landings) were 29,386, a decrease of 13.9% when compared to the April 2001 total aircraft operations count of 34,142. General aviation activity, which accounted for 74% of the total aircraft operations during April 2002, showed a decrease of 16.9% when compared to April 2001. John Wayne Airport is a self-supporting enterprise, owned and operated by the County of Orange. |
