Ana, CA) - Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport decreased in
March 2002 as compared to March 2001. In March 2002, the passenger traffic count
was 637,612, a decrease of 1.2% when compared to the March 2001 passenger
traffic count of 645,447.
In addition, Commercial Carrier flight operations showed a decrease of 3.4%, while Commuter Carrier (air taxi) operations showed a decrease of 45.5% when compared to the same levels recorded in March 2001. Total aircraft operations decreased in March 2002 as compared to the same month in 2001. In March 2002, the total aircraft operations (take-offs and landings) were 31,948, a decrease of 9.3% when compared to the March 2001 total aircraft operations count of 35,209. General aviation activity, which accounted for 77% of the total aircraft operations during March 2002, showed a decrease of 9.5% when compared to March 2001.
